BUSTed Art at VIPink this Saturday!

Hey everyone-

I have a print debuting tomorrow at the event VIPink. All the info on this event can be found here. Hopefully folks can make it out since half the proceeds for all the prints sold will go to support breast cancer research!

My print is based off of representations of women from throughout history- including lesser known deities in the States like Nut (Egyptian sky goddess) and Mazu (South Chinese Ocean goddess).

Sidekicks and Soulmates Tomorrow!

Hey everybody! I know it's been awhile- but I assure you I have been hard at work here in the studio. One of the projects I have been up to is a piece for the Sidekicks and Soulmates show kicking off tomorrow at Mad Art Gallery!

The theme for the show is friendship- so of course I did a faux-70s wrestling poster for it. Let's face it, who can resist the chance to draw hot dogs and mustard and ketchup having a fight? I know I can't.

At any rate- hopefully you can all make it out to the show. It opens tomorrow and you can find all the info on it here. Thanks to Jenny Cimino for inviting me to participate!

Hello everyone,

We are about a week and a half away from the Food Stock Art Party I told you about in my last post. Since the event is just one night I want to present the pieces here on the blog first- one at a time of course.

It is my hope that folks will like them enough to come out and see them in person...and perhaps bid for them? All proceeds will be going to Operation Food Search!

Sneak Peek: Food Stock Art Party!

Hey everyone-

Been super busy lately- I am happy to announce I'll be in four different shows this Fall! The first one coming up is The Food Stock Art Party- which is sponsored by AIGA St. Louis, will be held on September 23rd at the Mad Art Gallery. All proceeds will be going to Operation Foodsearch- should be a great time! You can find all the info on it here.

I'm producing 4 different food-themed editorial illustrations for the project. The only requirement was that the art be related to food or sharing- so I decided to use this as a good opportunity to make exciting historical person illustrations.

Once the show goes live I will post the finals- but in the interim enjoy this sneak-peek of the work in progress taken from my laptop.

Tabloid! My illustration of the Movie

About a week ago I read this review over on npr.org about the new Errol Morris film "Tabloid" and was so intrigued that I knew I had to draw an illustration for it.

The idea of a camera focused on a camera focused on a crazy woman blew my mind. My creative urges soon got the better of me and I ended up pursuing what I originally envisioned as a spot as an epic "splash page" image. I like to think it functions well as a triptych.

I had a ton of fun researching costume and printing presses for this one- and decided to pursue a very flat color scheme based around some of my love for old screen print books.

I'm including the rough and some close-ups below.
